5 Off beat career for creative souls

Most of us are aware of the usual route of students that they take after class 12. Most students look for safer and familiar options in the field of medicine or engineering. Those who do not want to go down these lines, end up doing either something similar or embark on the journey towards finance, economy and business.

And while these are one of the good, safest and most well-known options out there, some of us still can not settle with these. There are people leaving jobs and starting again or having mid-life crises and looking for jobs that fulfills their heart’s desire. These are jobs that are creative, the ones that most of us have never heard before. Imagine being able to do something off beat that also satisfies the purpose of your creative soul from the beginning of your career. Let us look at some of these careers that you can look into.

Curation

Job of a Curator is to develop ways in which objects, archives and artworks can be interpreted, through exhibitions, publications, events and audio-visual presentations. They have the responsibility to collect exhibits in a museum or art gallery. Buying exhibits, organising displays, arranging restoration of artefacts, identifying and registering things, organising loans, and dealing with inquiries are all part of their responsibilities.

For the majority of curatorial roles, an undergraduate degree in art, anthropology or archeology or any other discipline concerning arts is normally required. Because of the high level of competition in this field, many curators have postgraduate degrees or certifications as well as prior experience. You might start off in a lower-level position, such as assistant curator. It indeed is a fun job if you are the one who loves to spend time in the museum and look at the artifacts and read about them.

Actuarial Science

This is for you if arts is not your thing and maths and finance are somethings that interests you. If you do not wanna go down the usual lane of accounting, actuarial science is something that will allow you to work in different sectors. Actuaries have traditionally worked in the insurance and pensions industries, but they’re increasingly branching out into other fields like healthcare, finance, corporate management, and enterprise risk assessment.

An actuary is a financial forecaster who estimates and evaluates risks as well as forecasts future events. Actuaries utilise sophisticated statistical and mathematical models to forecast the occurrence and impact of uncertain occurrences, and they keep these models up to date as the financial landscape evolves. Monitoring these projected repercussions, informing clients on their findings, and proposing solutions are all the major responsibilities. The work is usually diversified, with a decent balance of customer-facing and number-crunching activities.

Archaeology

Archaeologists examine artefacts, which vary from prehistoric tools and buildings to animal bones and microscopic organisms, to learn about human history. They implement excavation projects, informally known as digs, preserve archaeological remains and collect data that informs their understanding of the past.

It is a field for those who literally love to spend time in the field. Although the requirement of a degree is not very strict in archaeology, a good degree in archaeology really helps. Because of the high degree of competitiveness, many archaeology occupations lead to academia, where strong undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications are frequently required.

Art Restoration

In simple terms, Art conservators restore, preserve and analyze artifacts and works of art. Paintings, books, sculptures, and textiles are among the objects or materials that art conservators specialise in. They may work as part of a museum’s staff or as freelancers, providing services to museums, galleries, and people.

An art conservator should have a master’s degree in art conservation or a closely related field. They must have strong analytical, critical-thinking, and organising abilities, as well as the physical stamina and ability to climb, stretch, and move heavy pieces. They should also be familiar with the procedures for conducting chemical tests and x-ray examinations, as well as how to handle microscopes and other laboratory equipment. If that is something that excites you then this one is definitely for you.

Cinematographer

Cinematographers are undoubtedly the most important people that work to create motion pictures. Without these professionals, moving images would not be captured, and there would be no motion pictures. It is a multi-dimensional task where the person will work in collaboration with several other members of the team.

They’re in constant contact with the director, who provides them directions on what he wants each scene to look like. The cinematographer’s responsibility is then to capture the correct shots. In most cases, a cameraman will collaborate with lighting technicians and set designers as well. If film studies and mass communication are some of the subjects you enjoy then you will love this.
