Jesus & Mary school was founded on 12.10.1995. It was started by joint Anglo-Indian founders Clive and Kathleen Butterfield on the request of the local people. The founders seeing the need for a good school felt obliged to make arrangements and consequently Jesus and Mary school was founded. Jesus & Mary school was registered as a minority and recognized by the National Minority Commission for Minority Educational Institution [ Under section 2(g) of the National Commission], Govt. of India, New Delhi. Jesus and Mary school is a self Aided Minority institution. Jesus and Mary school is a modern and select school for all communities. At present it is imparting sound physical and mental education to children of Distt. Balrampur U. P. India. In keeping with the Nation's aspiration, the school aims at maintaining a high standard of education in conformity with the day to day necessity of high ideals. It encourages students and its endeavour to inculcate unto themselves the values of freedom and its judicious use, respect to law and order, national integration and above all patriotism. Thus the school aims, not merely at intellectual education but, also the development of social, physical and moral habits, it aims to lay the foundation to produce upright citizens and perfect members of society. The school has a spacious reading room and well equipped library, three large Laboratories for science and a computer room. Teaching aids, projects and other modern methods are used to make learning interesting. Children from class one upwards are divided into four houses, Anthony House[Blue] [named after Frank Anthony, Ex-President in-chief of the All India Anglo Indian Association], Butterfield House [Yellow] [named after Mrs. Patricia Butterfield, an eminent citizen and educationist of Balrampur], Fanthome House [Green] [named after Mr. Peter Fanthome, an educationist and a renowned social worker and keelor House[Red] [named after Mr. Trevor Keelor, Wg. Cdr. Indian Air Force awarded the Vir Chakra and V.M.] There is a healthy competition between these houses. Prizes, Shields, Certificates are distributed to the victorious in various curricular and extracurricular activities.

A student should have completed 3 years of age on the 1st April of the school year before he/she is admitted into the Nursery class. A corresponding age is fixed for every successive class. Thus a child should be six years of age in class one, and sixteen years old when he/she completes class ten.
